My 5 star rating means that considering it’s a $27.95 cartridge, it’s 5 stars. I’ve been an audiophile for a LONG TIME, and after many years have gone through a number of components. Recently, I am getting back in to vinyl, and I assure you this phono cartridge is a STEAL for the money. $27?? LOL……hard to believe. Right now, I am listening to The Crusaders, “A Search For Soul” which I find to be a very moving piece. It was recorded with this cart, and a Technics SL-Q200 which I got at a garage sale for $16. It is amplified through a Nad 114 preamp, ($60 estate sale.) It’s plugged via record outs directly in to my computer featuring an Asus P6T Deluxe Ver-2 Mother board. The resulting sound is quite good. I am also using the KAB reflex record clamp, and the KAB thick mat. Two upgrades that I recommend for any TT that will handle them.

This cart seems to need a healthy break in though. At first it sounded tinny and grainy, but after about 25 Hours it is now very musical with good, tight bass. Take an old album with a lot of bass and treble, and play it about 25 times on this, before serious listening.

I had a Sumiko/Project RM-9 with a Bluepoint Evo-3 cartridge, and this $43 rig, ($150 with KAB mat and clamp) comes closer to it than I ever imagined. If you want to get in to vinyl, I would recommend a used Nad preamp off of of Ebay, with this cart, and a good used Technics QUARTZ LOCKED Direct drive TT. If you want any free advice P.M. me through this site.

Shame on 6th Ave electronics for lousy, rotten, envelope, packaging. – Very fast though. I guess if you get it and it’s smashed, they will ship a new one? LOL

Associated equipment: Expensive DIY speakers with Dynaudio and Eton drivers, designed with LinearX’s LEAP, and LMS, Technics SL-1210M5G TT with BP evo-3 cart, and all KAB mods. Also, a Spectral DMC-6 preamp, Behringer Ultradrive crossover, three Threshold S-300 power amps.

I have been BITTEN by the vinyl bug. I think I’ll go about a $grand$ on my next cartridge!

A friend of mine who is a recording engineer recommended I get this one to go with a Technics turntable (sl-5 linear tracking, p mount only) rather than the Shure someone had put on it. I was hesitant because of the lack of reviews online and the price point. I thought it was too cheap to be really good. I have to say its the best thing I could’ve gotten. My main musical interest is rock, and some of it gets really hard and heavy. This cartridge makes music really come alive. The bass is full, without overpowering, all of the musical details are crisp and clean. Its dynamic, warm, spacious, vibrant! I haven’t felt vinyl in a long time. I could totally feel it with this. I just can’t believe that its so underrated. Well, maybe that keeps it nice and affordable.
