what is the best way to hook up turntables to a desktop computer?
i want to hook up my turntable to my desktop computer. the turntables have rca output and thats it. i want the the best sound quality, so i can record mix tapes.

u need a patch cable from rca to stereo 1/8th” … then some record-what-u-hear software .. audacity is free but it would be better to have a dedicated soundcard and a good app like adobe audition or soundforge …

Get an RCA to mini-headphone stereo adapter cable (you can get it from Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc…) and attach it between your turntable output and the line input of your soundcard. If your turntable is magnetic cartridge, you may need a turntable pre-amp between the turntable and the adapter. Attach the ground wire of your turntable to the metal chassis of your computer (to eliminate hum). Now, just use the right software and you’re ready to rip. More info at the following link:
